Adrian Dorst

Adrian Dorst is widely known, both in Canada and abroad, for his photographic portrayal of wilderness and wildlife. In the past two decades, his work has appeared in calendars, posters, books, and magazines, among them International Wildlife, Equinox, Canadian Geographic, Sierra, BBC Wildlife, and Wilderness, to name a few. He is also a frequent contributor to Beautiful British Columbia magazine.

Adrian is perhaps best known for his book Clayoquot; On the Wild Side, published by the Western Canada Wilderness Committee in 1990. This best-selling book show-cased a collection of his most evocative images portraying the splendour of wilderness on Vancouver Island's west coast. Recently published books include Hiking with Ghosts, about the Chilkoot Trail, and Paddling Through Time, about a kayak trip through Clayoquot Sound, both published by Raincoast Books. He is also an accomplished sculptor in wood and soapstone and an ornithologist, having co-authored Birds of Pacific Rim National Park in 1976.
